Sigiriya is world heritage site declared by UNESCO. King Kasyapa shifted his kingdom to Sigiriya to hide from his brother. And gave the name Sinha – girl or lion’s mountain most structures that we see today were built at that time and this period was the golden age of Sigiriya. After Kasyapa killed himself Sigiriya was turned back into a Buddhist monastery.
